On January 27, 2010, Apple introduced their much-anticipated1 media tablet, the iPad running a modified2 version3 of iOs. It offers multitouch interaction4 with multimedia formats5 including newspapers, magazines, ebooks, textbooks, photos, movies, TV shows videos, music, word processing6 documents, spreadsheets7, video games, and all existing iPhone apps8. It also includes a mobile9 version of Safari for internet browsing10, as well as11 access12 to the App Store, iTunes Library, iBooks store, contacts13, and notepad14. Content is downloadable15 via16 WIFI and optional17 3G service or synced18 through the user's computer. AT&T is currently the sole19 US provider of 3G wireless access for the iPad,

The iPad is a tablet20 computer designed and marketed by Apple Inc. for Internet browsing, media consumption21, gaming, and light content creation. Released22 in April 2010, it established a new class of devices between smartphones23 and laptops24. As of May 31, 2010, Apple had sold 2 million iPads. Similar to the older (and smaller) iPod Touch and iPhone, the iPad runs a modified version of the iPhoneOS and is controlled by a multitouch LCD25 sensitive to fingertips, instead of a stylus26 as with earlier tablet computers. It runs iPad-specific applications27 as well as those written for the iPhone and iPod Touch, including ebook readers.
The iPad uses Wi-Fi 28 data connection to browse the Internet, load and stream media, and install29 software. A USB30 cable is required to sync the iPad with iTunes on a personal computer.
